Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
(ALS) most commonly known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease" is a
progressive, neuromuscular disease that attacks the nerve
cells and pathways in the brain and spinal cord. It
affects all voluntary muscle action, leaving patients in
the
latter stages totally paralyzed, yet the mind remains
unaffected.
